Obituary

Hazel Boswell Harrell, 93, of Tifton died Monday, October 12, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Roe and Dr. W. Ches Smith, III will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Coy Tawzer, Harold Tawzer, Ronnie Greer, Garrett Reddish, Harmon Tawzer, and Carl Tawzer will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Harrell, Stephen Williford, Sean Clark, Senator John D. Crosby and Harmon Tawzer. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Harrell was born on February 14, 1916 in Tifton and was the daughter of John Boswell and Bula Goode Boswell McCrary, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Harrell; and her son, John Robert Harrell, who died on October 15, 2008. She was retired as the Secretary of Court for Judge John D. Crosby and Judge Bowie Gray. She was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where she taught the children’s Sunday School class for many years.

Mrs. Harrell is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Robert A. “Bob” and JonAnn McCrary of Jesup; one niece, Elaine McCrary Reddish of Jesup; four nephews, Kyle McCrary of Jesup, Kevin McCrary of Jesup, Danny Harrell of Savannah and Ronnie Harrell of Gainesville, Florida; one sister-in-law, Jean Harrell of Brunswick; and five great nieces and nephews, Garrett Reddish, Leanna Reddish, Hunter McCrary, Mallory McCrary and Nancy McCrary.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Forward in Faith building fund at Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
