Obituary

Wilfred J. “Willie” Mendosa 89 years old of West Yarmouth formerly of Brockton and Lake Worth, FL died Friday October 9, 2009 at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Harwich. He was born in East Bridgewater and raised in Brockton a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Gerhardt) Mendosa.
Wilfred was a veteran of WWII having served with the 7th Armored Division in the European Theatre, wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the DAV, VFW, Purple Heart Association and the Bridgewater Veteran’s Club.
Wilfred retired from the Brockton Post Office in 1971 after 23 years of service and had served as union representative.
Will’s life revolved around playing golf and sitting around a craps table with Father Ed.
Surviving him are four children Cheryl Wong and her husband Mark of Columbia, MD; Kathleen Jackson of Decatur, AL; Suzanne Patton of Messena, NY and Robert Mendosa and his wife Eleanor of Dallas, TX. He was the brother of Frank J. Mendosa of W. Yarmouth and the late Helen Winn and John Mendosa. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of M. Madelyn (Mello) Robinson of Canton and the late Lois (Nevins) and Casimria “Casey” (Zdon) Mendosa.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 11 am with visitation 10-11 am. Burial with military honors in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1 pm.
