C. Teresa Hurley of North Main St. Andover, Ma, passed away suddenly on October 9, 2009 at age 87. Being a lifelong resident of Andover she was well known for her amusingly feisty nature and a tactful wit. Teresa was the youngest child of Angus and Nellie (Sweeney) Burbine and was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Surette, Marguerite Gray, Helen McCauly and six brothers, Jerome, William, Joseph, Henry, John and an unnamed infant. She was the widow of William “Buff” Hurley and is survived by five children. Mary Ellen Barnes of Lynn MA; Kathleen A. Clancy and husband John of Highland Village TX; P. Bridget Perry and husband Kevin Cynthiana KY; Sheila M. Clark of Plaistow NH, and William A. Hurley and wife Namsuk of Andover, MA. Teresa had nine grandchildren. She also had two great grandchildren, Anthony Hurley and Robert Barnes as well as many nieces and nephews.

She attended St Augustine school and Graduated from Punchard High in 1939 being the captain of the basketball team for three years. She retired from Tyer Rubber after 30 years of service producing deep sea diving suits. She then worked at Market Basket in Andover where she taught the younger workers the value of dedication and hard work. She enjoyed volunteering at Bread and Roses in Lawrence MA serving food to the homeless and needy. She was also a lifelong member of St Augustine Parish in Andover. She will be deeply missed but will forever live on in our hearts.
