Nancy J. (McSweeney) McKinnon, 50, of Attleboro formerly of Norwood passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday October 10, 2009 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of James K. “Jimma” McKinnon to whom she was wed on April 22, 1989.
Born in Boston, MA on July 14, 1959 she was a loving daughter of Madeline F. (McEvoy) McSweeney of Attleboro and the late James F. McSweeney, Sr.
Nancy grew up and was educated in Norwood public schools and was a 1977 graduate of Norwood High School.
For the past 10 years Nancy was employed as a School Bus Driver for the towns of North Attleboro and Attleboro and was the former Manager of McSweeney’s Downtown Café in Norton. She had resided in Attleboro for over 20 years.
Nancy enjoyed the wonderful times spent with her loving family and especially helping to raise her sons. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, cooking and horse back riding. Nancy will always be remembered for the ways in which she could light up a room with her presence and for her contagious laughter.
In addition to her beloved husband and loving mother she is survived by her devoted sons Jake McKinnon and Josh McKinnon both of Attleboro. She was the cherished sister of Roy J. McSweeney and his wife Christine of Arizona, James F. McSweeney, Jr. of New Hampshire, Elaine M. Taylor and her husband Arthur of Attleboro, Patrick “PJ” McSweeney of North Attleboro, Susan T. Fullerton and her husband Edward of Attleboro and the late Rita M. Munn. She was the sister in law of William Munn of Holbrook, Robert Abraham and his wife Mary of Milton, Raymond Abraham and his wife Gerry of Boston, Nancy Roberge of North Attleboro and the late Elizabeth McSweeney, Richard Abraham and Steven Roberge. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Graveside services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday October 16th at 11:00 A.M. at the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Plain St. Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday October 15th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Nancy’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the McKinnon Children’s Educational Fund, care of, Mansfield Bank 225 West Main St. Norton, MA 02766.
