Carmella “Nellie” Summa, of Arlington, died Wednesday at the Winchester Hospital. She was 90.
Born and raised in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Carmella (Vardaro) Contrado. Nellie lived in Medford for a time before settling in Arlington over 50 years ago. Devoted to her family and friends, Nellie had worked at the former Ideal Mattress in Boston as a cutter.
She was the beloved wife of the late James Summa. She was a devoted sister of Alice Contrado of Arlington and the late Phyllis Freni. She was a loving aunt to Anthony Freni of Raynham, Janice DeRosa of Everett and also leaves many great nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.
