Elsie M. (Clark) Lowe, 101 years of Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, Roslindale, Roxbury, and Boston, died Friday October 9, 2009 at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. She was the devoted wife of the late Alexander Lowe and the daughter of the late William A. and Marion E. (Johnson) Clark. Born in Piscataway, NJ she spent her early years in Plainfield, NJ before settling in Massachusetts. She graduated from Drake Business College in New Jersey. Mrs. Lowe held a variety of positions during her career while raising two young children as a young widow. Mrs. Lowe worked 4 years in York, ME at the Marshall House, 23 years in the retail bakery business at Harry’s Home Bakery in Roxbury, and several years caring for Children at the Boston Center for Blind Children. She was also an accomplished seamstress and developed a dedicated following of clients and lasting friendships over the years. After retiring she participated in volunteer activities at local hospitals and supported numerous local charitable events.
She was the loving mother of Robert Lowe of S. Yarmouth and his wife Rosalyn, and Richard Lowe of Bridgewater and his wife Janice; loving sister of the late Anne Andersen and the late Harold Clark; loving grandmother of Donna McMahon of VT, Gary Lowe of NH, Tracey Lowe of GA, and Richard Lowe of Bridgewater and loving great-grandmother of Alexandra, Garison, Grey, Gina, David, Ashley, Christopher and Kayley and great-great-Grandmother of Talon and Maddix; loving aunt of Thelma Schmidt of Attleboro, Sylvia Boyd of Plymouth, Shirley Coleman and Sandra Simms both of FL and Harold Clark of LA; loving great-aunt to Guy Quartarone, Joanne Palermo, Tony Quartarone, Chris Quartarone, Terry King, Sue Winter, Billy Quartarone, Paul Quartarone, Michael Showstead, Lauren Levesque, Valerie Lindquist, Peter Showstead , Andrew Showstead, Steven Coletta, and Matthew Coletta and lovingly survived by many great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10am. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Everett. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8pm.
