Frances Dees Carter, 75, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Tifton, died Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Melach Hospice House in Tampa, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Oakey Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Berrien County. Deacon Jimmy Dees will officiate with burial to follow in Oakey Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Jimmy Dees, Larry Dees, Keith Dees, Dwight Hall, Ronnie Long and Patrick Davis will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Carter was born on April 18, 1934 in Tift County and was the daughter of W. C. Dees and Bertha Parr Dees, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruby McLeod. She was a retired office manager in the fence installation and repair business and of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Ms. Carter is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Paul White of Tampa, Florida, Susan and Randy Conklin of Charleston, South Carolina and Pamela and Paul Simon of Depauw, Indiana; one brother, J. M. Dees of Tifton; two grandchildren, Melissa Toloff and Elizabeth White; and two great grandchildren, Jessica Toloff and Nicholas White.
