Obituary

Patrick "Joe" Riviezzo, 76, a resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida for three years a former resident of Lawrence, MA. died on September 25, 2009 at the Life Care Center of Port St. Lucie, Florida.

He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on March 25, 1933 to Rocco and Mary L. (Mitchell) Riviezzo. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1952. He was two time Captain of the foot ball team. The coaches of the Central League selected him as a member of the All Star Team two years in a row. In his senior year Mr. Riviezzo and his class were considered the top rated team that year to be selected by college teams. Mr. Riviezzo served during the Korean war having served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic.

Mr. Riviezzo worked as a Field Accountant for New England Power/National Grid until his retirement. He was a long time parishioner of St. Mary’s Church/St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence, MA. A member of Lawrence Lodge of Elks B.P.O.E., Lodge #65 in Lawrence for 39 years, also the American Legion Post #122 in Methuen, MA, the Rocky Club in Lawrence, MA, and the Rod and Gun Club of Methuen, MA.

According to his family he was a very loving husband, a devoted father to all his children, and a proud grandfather to all. He will be remembered by all and forgotten by none. He ran the American Legion with partner Roger Becotte for many years. He also loved gardening and camping. Especially camping at Sanborn Shores Acres in Hampstead, NH. He loved to fish with his children and grandchildren and spend all the quality time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years: Shirley (Maler) Riviezzo. His sons: Rocco Riviezzo and his wife Janet of Henderson, Nevada, Dana Riviezzo and his wife Lilly of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Glenn Riviezzo and his wife Gina of Atkinson, NH, one daughter Sherri DesRoches and her husband William of Methuen, MA. His sisters: Claire Fascione and her husband James of Salem, NH, and Marylou Becotte of Salem, NH, A brother Jack Riviezzo and Debbie Lister of Methuen, MA, as well as 10 grand children, several nieces and nephews and many cousins. Mr. Riviezzo is predeceased by his sister Gloria Roy, a brother Eugene Riviezzo.

A funeral service will take place Friday, October 16th, 2009 at 8:00PM at the funeral home.
