Richard J. Gill Sr., a lifetime Woburn resident, passed away quietly at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, in Reading, early Wednesday morning, October 7, 2009, following a long illness. The beloved husband of Margaret A. "Peggy" (McLean) Gill, he was 82.
Born in Woburn on January 13, 1927 to Patrick J. & Mary E. (McDonough) Gill. He attended St. Charles School of Woburn and Keith Academy in Lowell.
He proudly served in the US Marine Corp in Okinawa during World War II and was self employed in the church goods business for many years.
He and his wife would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 5, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. "Peggy" (McLean) Gill and his sons Richard J. Gill Jr. and his wife Sue A. Gill and David C. Gill all of Woburn. Loving grandfather of Jessie E. Donovan and her husband Greg of Wilbraham, Cynthia L. Ciernia and her husband Troy of Worcester, Richard J. Gill III of Woburn. Loving great grandfather of Hannah E. Donovan.
Funeral service and interment will be private.
