FRAMINGHAM: Carmela Mary “Millie” Cantella, 96, died peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2009 following a brief illness.
Millie was born in the North End of Boston on February 24, 1913 the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine (Sapienza) Cantella, who emigrated from Sicily.
She is survived by her brother, Anthony J. Cantella of Palm Springs, CA and sister to the late Salvatore Cantella and Vincent M. Cantella. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as many great-grand nieces and nephews.
Millie spent her formative years in Roslindale and as a young girl moved to Winchester and Arlington. She has been a resident of Carmel Terrace in Framingham for several years. She received her BS from Boston University with the Class of 1935. She had a long and distinguished career as an Executive Secretary working in the business community throughout Boston, Cambridge and Lowell before retiring. Millis was a world traveler and visited Europe, Australia, China, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska and throughout the United States. She had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitations will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 ONLY in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (OFF ROUTE 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Holy Family Chapel at St. Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central Street, Framingham.
