Worcester – Sylvia Castle, 96, of Worcester passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2009. She leaves her husband, Alfred H. Castle, 97, of Worcester to whom she was married for 76 years.
Sylvia was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Gertrude Patenaude. She was predeceased by her brothers William and Clarence Patenaude. She leaves a son Alfred W. Castle and his wife, Janet, of Worcester. Survivors also include five grandchildren: Lucinda A., wife of Craig Arnold of North Brookfield, Karen M. Castle of Worcester, Alfred R. Castle and his wife Sally of Worcester, William J. Castle of Colorado Springs, CO and Brenda J. Castle-Rambarran of Worcester. She also leaves 15 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Sylvia went to Worcester schools and was formerly employed by Lusignan Textile. She loved the company of her family and cooking big meals for any occasion. Sylvia also enjoyed going to Foxwoods and playing Bingo. Her favorite pastime was shopping for bargains.
The funeral will be Wednesday, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond Street with a Mass at 11 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be at Notre Dame Cemetery.
