J. Leo Roy, Sr., 97. of Salem, NH died Mon. Oct. 5th at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence, MA.
Leo was born in Salem, MA, grew up and was educated in Van Buren, ME. He was the son of the late Lea (Madore) and Dennis Roy. He previously worked as a steam fitter for John Ventura in Lawrence, MA for many years and Flaherty Construction in Newton, MA. Leo had lived in Salem for 25 years, previously living in Methuen, MA and Florida. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Salem, & the Pipe Fitters Union in Boston, MA for over 60 years. He enjoyed fishing, buying and selling at flea markets, & making outdoor furniture. Most of all he loved gardening and had beautiful flowers and vegetables.
Leo was predeceased by his wife Isabel (Boudreau) Roy, his sons Dr. Wilfred “Elmer” Roy, Jerry Roy, and daughter Ruby Nealey. He was also predeceased by his sons-in-laws Don Blacklaw and Ron Nealey.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 9th at 10:00 AM at St Joseph Church, Salem. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Thursday Oct. 8th from 5-7 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH.
