CROMBIE, William E. “Putt”, of Brockton and Fort Myers, FL. and formerly of Winthrop, passed away at the Harbor House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hingham on October 6, 2009. He was 87. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire E. (Holmes) Crombie. Loving companion of many years to Mary Delaney of Brockton. Born in Winthrop, he was the son of the late William R. and Elizabeth A. (Hines) Crombie. Devoted father of William E. Crombie Jr. and his wife Patricia of Winthrop, Steven M. Crombie and his wife Nancy of Winthrop, Mark A. Crombie and his wife Carla of Derry, NH, Karen E. Wyson and her husband Joseph of Winthrop, and Brian S. Crombie and his wife Cheryl of Winthrop. Dear brother of Laura Doherty of NY, Barbara Jacques of Winthrop, and Robert Warren Crombie of Saugus. Adored grandfather of Matthew, Adam, Jennifer, Christopher, Bethany, Allison, and Steven Jr. Crombie, and Michael Picardi all of Winthrop, Andrea and Jonathan Wyson of Winthrop, and Adrienne and Nicholas Crombie of Derry, NH, and a special “Bill” to Mary’s children and grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St, WINTHROP, on Friday at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery.
