Obituary

Michael J. Higgins, 65 of Franklin died October 4 in the Maples Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham. He was the husband of Amy (Hines) Higgins.
Born in Brookline, April 9, 1944, the son of the late James and Mary (Schroder) Higgins, Mr. Higgins was raised and lived in Boston for most of his life prior to moving to Franklin 2 years ago.
Mr. Higgins had been a commercial window washer in the business district of Boston for many years.
Mr. Higgins was a member of the NRA. He loved to read and to collect cars.
Mr. Higgins served in the Army in the 101st. Airborne during the Viet Nam War era.
He was stationed in Berlin and at Spandau prison.
He attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the expert marksman badge and advanced infantry ribbon.
Mr. Higgins was a deeply patriotic man who went on to served in the National Guard after his regular service was over.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jayson J. Higgins and his wife Erika of Millis, Jessica M. Higgins-Pomakis and her husband Jason of Framingham, Theresa M. Foley and her husband Sean of Wrentham and Michael J. Higgins Jr. and his wife Sandra of Bellingham.
He was the brother of 7 brothers and 1 sister.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley, Renae, Olivia, Jason Jr., Jayson Jr., and Katherine.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, October 8 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 9:30 a.m. followed by graveside services in Wrentham Centre Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
