Obituary

Mrs. Alleyne (Richardson) Booker, 94, formerly of West Medford for more than 60 years, went to meet the Lord on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at home, in Houston, Texas. She was born on September 30, 1915 and was the wife of the late Robert Booker of Medford and the sister of the late Earle Richardson, noted Harlem Renaissance artist. She was a member of the Junior Matrons, Medford Auxilliary, D.A.V. Unit 21, and Grace Episcopal Church. After retiring from the Office of the Commisioner of the Probation, she volunteered at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the West Medford Community Center and Grace Episcopal Church. In 2007, she was among twelve West Medford woman, ninety years of age and older who received the Key to the City of Medford and were honored by Shiloh Baptist Church. She was admired by many and is survived by her daughter, Bobbye and son-in-law Jackie Coleman, Houston, Texas; JoAnn Tyler, Kenny and Cathy Phillips, Bruce Nays and Charles Tyler, Jr. of Medford. She also is survived by brother-in-law, Sheridan Stiles, Atlanta, Georgia; niece Deborah Diggs Jackson of Osterviille and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours will be held Friday, October 9, 2009, from 5 - 7:00 PM in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, at 11 AM, Ocotober 10, 2009, in the Grace Episcopal Church, 160 High Street, Medford. Internment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
