Obituary

Graham H. Donlon age 87 of Canton passed away October 3rd at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood, Born and raised in Hyde Park, he graduated from Hyde Park High and Briggs & Stratton Business School. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II where he served as a Signalman and was responsible for signaling the invasion on D-Day on Utah Beach in Normandy France. He worked as the Veteran’s Agent for the Town of Canton where he was a strong advocate for the local veterans and felt it was his duty to attend all the funeral services of the deceased veterans at their place of worship. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #24 in Canton where he was an avid supporter of the baseball team. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2095 in Canton, the VFW in Avon, the D.A.V., an active member of the St. Vincent dePaul in Canton, the Canton Historical Society, the Canton Senior Men’s Club & was an Usher at St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. He was a member of the Grid Iron Club of Boston and an avid Boston College Fan. He was also a Volunteer at the Norwood Hospital and the Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, FL. He also previously worked for the Canton Public Schools in maintenance and during time with the school system he helped shovel the roof of the high school during the Blizzard of 78. Mr. Donlon summered in Scituate, MA and wintered in Jupiter, FL. Beloved husband of Louise C. (Stuart). Father of Janice L. Hayes & her husband James of Norton, Grahame H. & his wife Brenda of Eastham & William J. & his wife Nancy of Stoneham. Brother of John Donlon & the late Alice Molloy, Charles, Edward & Rev. William Donlon. Grandfather of Christina Hayes, Graham P. Donlon, Michaela Donlon, Ian Donlon, Kaitlin Donlon, William “Joey” Donlon and the late James Hayes Jr. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday (2-4) & (7-9). Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Friday morning at 10:30. Interment VA National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers or donations in memory of Graham take someone you love to dinner.
