LOWELL - Carole J. (Crispo) Gath, age 66, a former resident of Wilmington, died peacefully while surrounded by her family on Sunday morning, October 4, at Saints Medical Center following an apparent heart attack at her Belvedere home in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of Edward J. Gath, with whom she had celebrated a 42nd wedding anniversary this past June 17th.
She was born in Lawrence, January 4, 1943, a daughter of the late George A. and Florence (Lariviere) Crispo, and raised in Wilmington where she lived until moving to Lowell in 1967. She worked as an administrator at Robinson and McKesson pharmaceutical company, Bartlett Radiology in Lowell, and Millipore in Bedford, before moving to the Bruker Companies in Billerica.
She was an active communicant of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Lowell, where she was a former Eucharistic Minister, and a volunteer worker at the weekly Immaculate Conception School charity Bingo.
She loved to travel, enjoyed antiquing, everything about lighthouses, visiting the seashore, and died in the Autumn, her favorite of the four seasons. She enjoyed family times, especially with her grandchildren, and drew happiness from the smiles of the people around her.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Kristen M. Gath, Edward J. Gath Jr., and his wife Melinda, and Joseph F. Gath all of Lowell; two grandchildren, Andrew Gath and Chloe Gath; five brothers and sisters, Georgette Frisch and her husband Lester of Tewksbury, Therese Black and her husband William of Wilmington, David Crispo and his wife Ruthie of Reading, Joseph Crispo of Wilmington, George A. Crispo Jr. of Goffstown, NH; her sisters-in-law, Ann Cunha and Jo Ann LaBranche both of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Keirsten Gath, and her sister, Mary Therese Crispo.
Her Funeral Mass was held Thursday, October 8, in the Immaculate Conception Church, Lowell. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell. Memorials In Memory of Florence Crispo, to the Alzheimers Assn. of Mass., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472, www. alz.org/manh, will be appreciated.
