Daniel C. Guerin, 79, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on October 3rd, 2009. He was born in Boston on October 25th, 1929 to his parents John and Nora (Lombard) Guerin. Dan was raised and educated in South Boston. He is a graduate of South Boston High School. During the Korean War, he served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. For over 30 years, Dan worked as a Postman in Malden. He was a member of the American Legion and the Irish American Club in Malden. Dan was a accomplished handball player who is a member of the South Boston Sports Hall of Fame and the L Street Hall of Fame. He is survived by his children; Eileen Guerin and her husband David Conti of Boxford, Daniel Guerin and his wife Patricia of Easton, James Guerin and his wife Candy of East Bridgewater and Paula Hannon and her husband Francis of Melrose; by his grandchildren; John, Timothy, Kylene, Christian, Francis, Kevin, Grace, Daniel, Katie and Michael; and by his brother John Guerin of South Boston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his wife Janet M (Morley) Guerin; by his daughter Margaret G. Barut; and by his sisters Mary Miller and Elizabeth Pratt. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday October 7th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday October 6th from 4-8 PM.
