Obituary

Eunice Cooke Moss, 91, of Summerville, widow of George Moss, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 11 o’clock at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Summerville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 6 until 8 Monday evening.

Mrs. Moss was born April 21, 1918 in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Alfred and Susan Evans Cooke. She served in the United States Army as a nurse on the army hospital ship “St. Mihiel’s” during World War II attaining the rank of Captain. She continued nursing in private practice until meeting her husband George. She then became a wife and a mother and was married for 47 years. She was head of “Help of Summerville” which assisted in helping to provide food for the Palmetto House. She and her late husband were avid bridge players. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her son: Jonathan Moss of Summerville, niece: Dr. Susan Frost and her husband Meryl of Gainesville, Fl, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter and 2 brothers: Susan Howald, George Cooke and John Cooke.
