Hilda Girard 97, formerly of Elm St. where she resided for most of her life, died Thursday at The Holiday in Lincoln. She was the wife of the late Henry Girard. Mr. and Mrs. Girard celebrated 73 years of marriage. Mrs. Girard was born in Woonsocket a daughter of the late Alexander and Georgianna (Dion) Blanchette. She was a spinner for the former French Worsted Co. for many years retiring in 1969. She was a member of the St. Ann's Ladies Guild and Les Dames de St. Anne.
Mrs. Girard is survived by her godchild, Donna Jalette of Johnston, three sisters Edna Boudreau, Alice Pretto, and Florence Jalette, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Raymond, Theodore, Aram and Paul Blanchette, Doris Ethier, Sylvia Sutherland, Sr. Olive Blanchette PM, and Dolores Beaudette.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will be held in Precious Blood Cemetery. Visiting hours are Saturday 8:30 to 9:30 AM.
