Obituary

Mae R. Cannizaro of Wilmington formerly of Medford passed away October 1st with her loving family by her side following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Philip Cannizaro. Born in the Hyde Park section of Boston she was the daughter of the late Columbus and Lillian (DeFronzo) Bucci.

Mrs. Cannizaro lived in Medford for many years before moving to Wilmington in 1966. She worked as an office manager for the Stop & Shop Market in Medford for nearly twenty-five years. Mrs. Cannizaro was also very active with the Wilmington Sons of Italy, Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli Lodge #2183 where served as the treasurer and was a member for more than thirty years. Over the years she was active with the Wilmington Senior Center and together with her late husband they ran the former Golden Ages Club. She loved dancing, singing and traveling. Her greatest joy was her family and she cherished her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren never forgetting a birth date, anniversary or other significant date. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

In addition to her late husband Philip, Mae is predeceased by her sisters, the late Anna Freitas and Esther Girolamo, brothers, the late Joseph, James and Anthony Bucci. She is also predeceased by her son-in-laws, the late James Taylor and Frank DiPietro. She is survived by her son, Richard E. Cannizaro and his wife Jane of Wilmington, daughters Phyllis Taylor of Wilmington and Marsha DiPietro of Tewksbury. She is also survived by ten loving grandchildren, eighteen loving great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Eleanor Pace of Peabody, Agnes DePiano of Wilmington and Helen Cocuzzo of Malden.

A funeral service was held from the Dello Russo - Cavanaugh Funeral Home 374 Main St. Wilmington, Saturday, October 3rd, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours were held on Friday at the Dello Russo - Cavanaugh Funeral Home from 4 thru 8. Services concluded with burial at the Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
