Joseph A. Primo, North End native, retired fisherman and proprietor of Primo’s Pizza died Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer. He was 84.
Born and raised in Boston’s North End, Joseph was the son of the late Anthony and the late Accurzia (Licata) Primo. As a young boy he joined his father as a fisherman sailing from the docks of Boston’s waterfront every day. After almost a life-time of fishing Joseph joined his family in operating Primo’s Pizza in Somerville, until his retirement. Joe was a loving and generous man who enjoyed the company of his family and friends.
He was a beloved husband to Tina (Misuraca). He was a devoted father to Anthony Primo and his wife Barbara of Weymouth, Joseph Primo and Cheryl of Malden, Salvatore Primo and his wife Marie of Mansfield. He was a loving grandfather to Anthony, Michelle, Joseph, Mark, Kristyn, Lisa Primo and a loving great-grandfather to Michael and Anna. He was a dear brother to Juanita Teta of Andover, the late Katie Maniscalco, James, Primo, Gus, Primo, and Frances Chermesino.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday at 8:45 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 12 North Sq., Boston, at 9:45 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4-8. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale.
