Elizabeth Wells Briggs Coady, of Rochester died Sept. 29, 2009. She was the loving and devoted wife of George W. Coady.
Born Nov. 27, 1916 in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of Hope Bates Briggs and Dr. Asa S. Briggs, late of Providence, RI.
A graduate of Lincoln School in Providence and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, she served as private secretary for five years in the law firm of Hale and Dorr in Boston prior to her marriage. After marrying, she resided successively in Newton Junction, NH, later in Canton, MA, and lastly in Rochester.
She was the mother of Alison Coady of Canton, MA and New London, NH; Bradford Coady of Wayne, ME; Jeffrey Coady of Mansfield, MA, and Shelby Blunt of New London, NH. She had one sister, Janet B. Guild, late of Castine, ME, and two brothers, Sheldon B. Briggs, late of Lincoln, MA, and Francis D. Briggs, late of Providence, RI. She is survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were private.
