Jessie O. Pitts, 90, of Fitzgerald died Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM Friday, October 2, in the Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Barry Gordon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Ms. Pitts was born September 7, 1919 in Wilcox County to the late George Felton and Alice Hamilton Ray. She moved to Ben Hill County in the early 1990’s from Byron. Ms. Pitts was a former machine operator of Bibb Mfg. and Atlantic Mills, both in Macon. She was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Thelma Sheffield of Fitzgerald; grandchild, Stacie Lee of Perry; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Land of the Lands Crossing community and Launa Hobby of Wrightsville as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Sheffield, 2 brothers, Robert Ray and Earl Ray and a sister, Oma Lee Woodard.
