Worcester – Everett R. Gonyea, 61, of Worcester died on Tuesday, September 29th in Saint Vincent Hospital.
Mr. Gonyea is survived by his wife of 37 years Ann Marie (Sherman) Gonyea; a son Jeffrey R. Gonyea of California; a daughter Lisa M. (Gonyea) McMenemy of Worcester; two granddaughters Alyssa and Amber McMenemy; a cousin Francene (Minise) Jacques of which was like a sister to Everett; other cousins Barbara Rich and Shirley Gilfoy and many nephews and nieces.
Everett was born in Worcester son of the late Everett O. and Gertrude A. (Rich) Gonyea and served in the United States Army. While in the army Mr. Gonyea received numerous medals including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Service Star.
He worked for the Norton Company in Plant 6 for many years and later worked for the Worcester Housing Authority until retiring in 2006.
Mr. Gonyea was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He also was a former member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243 and enjoyed hunting. Everett was an avid softball player for many years and umpired for the USSSA after he was no longer playing. He was an all city baseball pitcher while at Doherty High School under Jack Whalen.
Everett enjoyed many things in life, but was most happy being a Pepe to his grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday October 2nd, at 11:00 AM in All Saints Church 10 Irving St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
