Nils N. Lyons, a 42 year resident of Everett, died on Monday September 28, 2009 at his home in Everett following an extended illness. He was 76 years old.
Nils was born in Medford on July 11, 1933. He grew up in Medford and attended Medford Public Schools. He enlisted into the United States Army on February 20, 1953 and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on December 31, 1954 with the rank of Private First Class. Nils worked for over 20 years with the highway department for the City of Everett. He retired several years ago.
Nils is the beloved husband of 50 years to Leah B. (Marchese) Lyons. He is the devoted father of Charles Lyons of Everett and Christopher Lyons and his wife Tricia of Everett. He is the loving Pa to Emerson and Nolan Lyons. He is the beloved brother of 14 deceased brothers and sisters. He is the beloved brother-in-law of Anna Glenncross of Stoneham and Frances Morton of Medford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Nils Funeral will be held on Friday October 2, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Service in The Woodlawn Crematorium Chapel, 302 Elm St. Everett at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Thursday October 1, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. Cremation will take place following his service.
