Worcester - Robert B. Morton, 78, of Worcester died on Tuesday, September 29, in his home after illness.
Mr. Morton is survived by his wife of 57 years Beverly J. (Boss) Morton; a son Robert J. Morton and his wife Kellie of Auburn; a daughter Robin A. Morton-Callahan of Worcester; a brother Leslie Morton of England; a sister Florence Conger of Worcester; three grandsons Michael Patrick Callahan, Derek James Morton and Sean Robert Morton; one great-granddaughter Ariana Levitan; five brothers and sisters-in-law Linda Sturtze-McDonough and her husband Tom, Ernie Boss and his wife Susan all of Worcester and Michael Boss, Bonnie Scott and Tammie Brown and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Worcester son of the late Leslie and Florence (Guiness) Morton and attended Auburn High School. He is also predeceased by a daughter Sandra M. Morton who died in 2002 and a brother Clarence Morton who died in 2008.
Mr. Morton retired from the Warner & Swasey Manufacturing Company. After his retirement Bob had many various jobs including working for the city of Worcester Public School Department and also for Kettlebrook Golf Course. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88, the Greendale Retired Men's Club and a former member of the Auburn Lodge of Elks.
Bob was most happy when he was watching his grandsons play baseball and spending time on the golf course.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 3, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 2, from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
