Obituary

WORCESTER-Helen C. Cronin, 84, formerly of California and Goddard House in Worcester died Tuesday, August 19th in Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She leaves her sister, Barbara A. DiNoia of Jefferson, 17 nephews and nieces. 2 brothers, Francis J. and John L. Cronin and a sister, Marion Parker predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of Patrick J. and Mary F. (McCartney) Cronin, graduated from Commerce High School and was an Army veteran of WWII. She attended Westboro State Hospital School of Nursing, the European Theater WWII School of Anesthesia, University Hospital, in Cleveland, OH, Sacramento State College and Bird Institute on Inhalation Therapy. Ms. Cronin worked as a certified nurse anesthetist for Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, CA for 34 years, retiring in 1989 and moving to Cape Cod. She was a member and president of the Sacramento Assoc. of Nurse Anestheticians, VP of the California Assoc. of Nurses Anesthetics, past president of the Catholic Nurses, Altruca International, Mary Knoll Cookie Club & Unit 61 American Legion Auxillary, commander of the American Legion Post 389, member of the Am. Legion Post 61. She organized the Myasthemia Gravis Group in Sacramento and was on the Board of Directors for the California Assoc. of Myasthemia Gravis Disease.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 23rd from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Grafton. Calling hours are Friday, August 22nd from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, Massachusetts, 01701.
