New Bedford - Hector R. "Rene" Gagnon, 81, of N. Dartmouth died August 20, 2003at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford after a brief illness. He was the husband ofMartha (Ziemilkowski) Gagnon.
He was born in Fall River son of the late Roland and Althea (Belanger) Gagnon.He was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport. He was owner/operator of theformer Rene's Used Car and Auto Parts, N. Dartmouth and later the owner/operator ofthe former J & R Security Company, N. Dartmouth until his retirement in 1987.
Mr. Gagnon was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He enjoyed fishing, restoring old cars and target practicing.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons: Jeffrey R. Gagnon of N.Dartmouth and John F. Gagnon of Westport; a daughter: Vivian Bettencourt of N.Dartmouth; a sister: Georgette Mullaney of CA; 4 grandchildren: Sonya Costa ofDartmouth, Jesse Gagnon of Westport, John Gagnon, Jr. of Westport and JustinGagnon of Westport; and several nieces & nephews.
He was father of the late Kim J.Gagnon and brother of the late John Gagnon and Florence St. Laurent.
Calling hour Friday 5-8 P.M.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday at 8:30 A.M. atthe POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
