Obituary

Methuen, MA- Mary A. (Lever) Scarth, 85, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family Saturday, September 26, 2009.
Born on June 5, 1924 in Lawrence, Mary was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (McDonough) Lever. She was a graduate of the Edward F. Searles High School, Class of `1942 and was a lifelong Methuen Resident.
Mary’s greatest joy was her family, whom she raised and took care of her whole life. After being a homemaker for many years, Mary went to work as the manager of Fannie Farmer’s for 15 years.
Mary was a member of the St. Monica’s Ladies Sodality, as well as the St. Clare League, Methuen Civic Club and St. Lucy’s Sodality. Mary spent part of her life taking care of her grandchildren who brought tremendous joy to her.
The widow of the late Sidney J. Scarth with whom she shared 60 years of Marriage, Mary is survived by her 2 daughters, Susan S. Ginchereau of Methuen, Sheila J. and her husband Dr. Thomas Anzaldi of Andover, her 4 grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonathan Anzaldi of Andover and Gregory Jr. and Christopher Ginchereau of Methuen, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mary was pre-deceased by her sister Elizabeth Thomas and 3 brothers, John, Robert and Bernard Lever.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St. in Methuen. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 10 AM at St. Lucy Church in Methuen with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery also in Methuen. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a donation in Mary’s name to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Bldg. 9 Lawrence, MA 01843.
