Walter J. Grabert, 86, of Plymouth passed away on September 23rd at Jordan Hospital after a prolonged illness. He was the beloved husband of Eva Grabert. Walter was born and raised in Boston and attended Boston Trade School. He went on to become an industrial engraver and co-owner of Adolph Bauer in Holbrook.
Walter served in the US army from 1941 to 1945 with the Headquarters Company 66th Armored Infantry Battalion of the 12th Armored Division. He was awarded the distinguished Service Cross and holds several medals including the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
Walter was a long time resident of Canton then later split his retirement years between Pompano Beach, Florida and Plymouth. He loved fishing, boating and gardening.
In addition to his wife, Eva, he is survived by his daughters Yvonne Noiles and her husband Leonard of Hanover, Joan Dickie of Canton, Lynette Samborski of Quincy, Michele Grabert and her husband Larry Lapointe of Wrentham, Cheryl Grabert and her husband Albie Shwachman of Cohasset, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited share a celebration of his life on Saturday, October 3rd from 2pm-5pm at Fellowship Baptist Church, 135 Summer Street, Hanover. There are no visiting hours and burial is private.
