Muriel C. Simmons, 74, of Derry, NH died Friday September 25, 2009 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. Muriel was born in Manchester, NH on December 12, 1934, daughter of the late Edward M. and Claire V. (Ledoux) Provost. She was raised and educated in Manchester and had lived the past 10 years in Derry, formerly living in Hooksett, NH. Muriel was employed as a telemarketer for Sears Roebuck Co. She was a member of the Hooksett-Ites performing group and the Order of the Carmelites.
She is survived by her brother, Edouard Provost of Bradenton, FL, four sisters, Jeannine Miville of Auburn, NH, Suzanne Auger of Goffstown, NH, Claudette Talbot of Bradenton, FL, and Victoria Pero of Venice, FL, also numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett Simmons, by her brother, Maurice Provost and by her sister, Carmel Levesque. The family wishes to thank the staff at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center for their exceptional care.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday September 29, 2009 from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry with cremation following.
