WORCESTER____Jeannette A. (Ledoux) Lamoureux, 91, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Saint Francis Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, surrounded by members of her family. Normand J. Lamoureux, Jeannette’s husband, of 64 years, passed away on March 30, 2001.
She is survived by her two children: her daughter, Sylvia A. Desautels of Sturbridge and her son, Very Rev. Richard E. Lamoureux, a.a., Superior General of the Augustinians of the Assumption, residing in Rome, Italy; two grandchildren, Kenneth E. Desautels and his wife Cheryl of Marlborough; and Denise Campiglio and her husband, Stephen of Sturbridge; four great-grandchildren, Luke and Jeffrey Desautels, Briana and Andrew Campiglio, and two step great-grandchildren, Garrett & Perrie Gregg, a sister-in-law, Lucille Ledoux of Worcester; and loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward J. Ledoux in 2005. Jeannette was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Victor J. Ledoux and Emma (Pelletier) Ledoux. She was educated in the Worcester Public Schools and graduated from Commerce High School. She lived her entire life on Grafton Hill with her extended family to whom she was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was the joy of her life who provided her with great comfort in her declining years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Worcester where she was a Eucharist Minister, a ministry that meant a great deal to her. She was also a member of the former Ladies of Ste Anne Sodality at St. Joseph Church and was a volunteer at Assumption College.
Jeannette was an accomplished seamstress and worked for many years from her home sewing for Interior Decorators. She was an “artist” when it came to creating beautiful window treatments.
She spent the last 8 years of her life at Saint Francis Home in Worcester. We would like to thank everyone at Saint Francis Home for all their love and support during these difficult last few weeks. For this, we, her family, are most grateful.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, September 29th from the Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Assumption College, 500 Salisbury Street. Her son, the Very Rev. Richard E. Lamoureux, a. a., will be the principal celebrant. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, September 28th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Augustinians of the Assumption for their educational mission in Butembo (Democratic Republic of Congo) in care of The Assumptionist, 330 Market Street, Brighton, Ma., 02135.
