BUENA PARK, CA: Richard C. Landers, Jr., 59, formerly of Beverly, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in the West Anaheim Medical Center in Anaheim, California following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Beverly on December 21, 1949, he was the son of Eleanor L. (Carr) Landers of Beverly and the late Richard C. Landers who died in 2005. Richard was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School class of 1967 and had attended Framingham State College. He had resided in Beverly for many years before moving to Buena Park, California thirty years ago.
Richard was employed for the U.S. Postal Service, having worked at the Stanton, CA Post Office for thirty years before retiring in 2008. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Seal Beach Country Club.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Andrew M. Landers of Beverly and an aunt, Marie Moran of Salem. He was also predeceased by his brother, James E. Landers.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
