Maria (Marciante) Scola, beloved wife of the late Severino Scola and resident of Medford for more that 65 years, died at the LifeCare Center in Stoneham on Friday, September 25, 2009. She was 93 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 3, 1916, Maria was the beloved daughter of the late Rosaria (Chiarella) and Ignazzio Marciante.
Maria was a long time and active member of St. Joseph Parish, a member of St. Joseph Sodality and member of the Italian American Club.
For many years she worked as a necktie sticher. Above all, Maria was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She will be sorely missed by her eight children; Vivian Carey of Quincy, Rosemary Marques of Naples, Maine, Patricia Iozza of Medford, Anthony Scola of Quincy, Richard and Stephen Scola, both of Medford, Christine Gallagher of Rockland and Paul Scola of Wilmington, two sisters; Nina Tenaglia of Stoneham and Rose LoJudice of Reading, 29 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Her funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, September 29, at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Medford, 118 High Street, Medford at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held Monday, September 28, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
