Arlene (Kashulines) Bouchard, 82, of Hudson, NH died Thursday September 24, 2009 at her home. Arlene was born in Nashua, NH on July 11, 1927, daughter of the late Albert and Celeste (Girouard) Kashulines. Arlene graduated from the Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson. She lived and was raised on the Kashulines Farm on Lowell Road in Hudson. She worked as a title examiner for Atty. Harrison Smith Law Offices in Nashua for many years. At one point, Arlene had also served as a CCD teacher. A dedicated and loving mother of nine children, she loved golf, football, scrabble, bridge and art. In addition, she loved to sing, dance and cook, sharing the fruits of her labor from her countless hours of gardening.
Arlene was an active member of the Hudson democratic party and spent numerous hours working on the causes that were important to her. She actively campaigned for Jimmy Carter, Ted Kennedy, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, Norm D'Amours and Governor Hugh Gallen. At one time, Arlene was elected a delegate to the state democratic convention. She hosted a campaign event in her Hudson home for Ted Kennedy during his presidential campaign in 1986. Arlene retired to Mexico in 1991 with her husband, Bertrand Bouchard, there, she was involved in the local Red Cross, the orphanage and the Country Club.
She is survived by her husband, Bertrand Bouchard, eight children, Robyn Small of Danvers, MA, Kevin Small of Hooksett, NH, Gregg Small of Belmont, NH, Craig Small of Hudson, NH, Gary Small of Springfield, VT, Suzanne Dumais of Londonderry, NH, Holly Small of Hudson, and Michele McFarland of Hudson, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Peter Kashulines of Windham, NH, Albert Kashulines of Hudson, her sister, Helen Kashulines of Florida, also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Celeste Small, her first husband, Francis Small and by her siblings, Robert Kashulines, Rita Kashulines, Diane Kashulines and Antoinette Kashulines.
Following cremation, a calling hour was held on Sunday October 4, 2009 from 11am to 12:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A funeral liturgy was held at 12:00pm in the funeral home.
