Obituary

Hazel M. (Oliver) Wallace, 85, of New Bedford, formerly of Dartmouth died August 19, 2003 at The Oaks Nursing Home after a long illness.

She was the wife of the late Edward W. Wallace.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Mary (Sylvia) and Frank Oliver, Jr., she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth.

Mrs. Wallace was formerly employed as an industrial registered visiting nurse with Eastern Electric Company and Berkshire Hathaway until her retirement. She also volunteered transcribing text books to Braille for blind students.

Mrs. Wallace was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and University Hospital, formerly Massachusetts Memorial Hospital, in Boston.

She was a member of the New Bedford Rod and Gun Club and the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a financial supporter of the Smithsonian Institute.

Mrs. Wallace enjoyed travel and her trips to Europe, Alaska, the Caribbean and Hawaii.

Survivors include a daughter, M. Jean Mahata, and her husband Michael F., of Somerset; a brother, Richard Oliver of North Scituate, RI; 2 aunts; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordFriday, August 22nd at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Thursday, August 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
