Obituary

Taunton, Jean R. (King) Picher, a resident of Taunton and Stoughton, died Thursday, September 24th 2009 at Morton Hospital Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was 78 years of age. She was the wife of the late Stanley “Ed” Picher. She had resided in Stoughton for over 30 years, were she had raised her family. She was born in Norwood. Daughter of the late Peter and Dorothy (Down) King. She attended St. Catherine’s School, graduated from Norwood High School and the Henry O. Peabody School for girls. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in data processing for Shaws Supermarkets. Up until her illness, she was a communicant of St. Josephs Church in Taunton. She was a resident of Life Care Center of Raynham. She was a wonderful mother and a friend to all. Jean enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She loved chatting with friends, knitting, and crocheting. In the 1960s, she enjoyed helping out as a volunteer with the Golden Rays Drum Corp. She is survived by a daughter Janice P. Buckley and her husband Thomas Buckley Sr. of Abington, a son Stephen A. Picher of Middleboro, and a son Mark A. Picher and his wife Robin (Ramsden) Picher of Bridgewater. A daughter in law Pamela (Bullard) Picher of Raynham. She was also the mother of the late Edward Picher and the mother in law of the late Barbara S. (Cowan) Picher. She is the sister of Patricia (king) Cibotti of Scituate, and the late Dorothy (King) O’Malley of California. Mrs. Picher was lovingly known as “Nanny” to her precious grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews survive her.

Her Funeral Services will be held Monday at 8am at the Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St (off Tremont St) followed by a mass of Christian Burial at the Holy Family Church in East Taunton at 9am. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Visiting Hours, Sunday from 4-6pm at the Taunton Funeral Home. Burial to follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
