Alice Leah Gagniere
...retired from MA/COM, formerly of Tewksbury; 70
LOWELL - Alice Leah (Hanson) Gagniere, age 70, peacefully passed away at her home in Lowell, Wednesday morning, September 23rd, after a long illness. She was the wife and "the love of her life" of Ronald Gagniere, who passed away on March 3rd, 1997.
She was born July 30, 1939, in Tewksbury, the daughter of the late Alice (Brown) and Harold Hanson, and was the niece of the late George and Kay Lincoln, formerly of Tewksbury.
She was the loving mother of two daughters and sons-in-law, Leah and Brian Donovan of Lowell, and Gayle and Mark Christian of Lawrence; the adoring and loving "Nanie" of four grandchildren, Justin and Catherine Donovan of Lowell and Stephen and Michael Christian of Lawrence; "best pal" of the late Rita Byrne, and also leaves her dear friends and travel buddies, Arthur and Jeannine Donovan of Lowell.
Alice grew up in Tewksbury, and had resided in Pepperell before returning to Lowell. She worked at MA/COM for 31 years prior to her retirement. She was a poet of words and enjoyed writing little poems to her family and friends, loved to travel , spent hours mastering the Internet, loved Maine and Hampton Beach, racing around in her "GoGo," spending time on her back porch with Ashley, and talking to her neighbors and friends. Alice enjoyed checking out the best eateries and going on "weekend adventures," playing cards and board games, and looked forward to playing her Wii with her dearest little buddy, Stephanie Donovan. She was lovingly known as "Nanie Alice" to Jeannine, Al, Sarah, and Eric Hamer of Chelmsford, Kevin, Angie, Matt, Aaron, and Amanda Donovan of Lowell, John and Mikey Donovan of Lowell, Heather Serrats and Nick Parent all whom she loved so dearly.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to her friends at Lowell General Hospital, "her girls" on T.C.U., Dr.. Miller's office, Dr. Walek's office, Respa Care, and the Lowell Visiting Nurse Association, with whom their support, allowed Alice to live a wonderful life.
Her funeral service was held Friday, Sept 25, in the funeral home. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Alice asked that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to the American Lung Assn., 460 Totton Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451 or the Lowell Humane Society, 951 Broadway, Lowell, MA 01854.
