Obituary

Velma A. (Dempsey) McKim, 84, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at home in Round Rock, TX on Saturday, September 19. She was the wife of the late William A. McKim. Born in Boston, she was educated in Jamaica Plain schools. Mrs. McKim was a resident of Stoughton for 55 years before moving to Round Rock, TX last year. She was a clerk for Factory Mutual Engineering in Norwood for several years before retiring in 1987. Mrs. McKim was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Women’s Club of Stoughton and the Red Hats in Stoughton. She was very active at the First Congregational Church in Stoughton. In her free time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Mrs. McKim is survived by her children, Susan I. McKim Hall and her husband D.W. Mike Hall of TX and James W. McKim and his wife Janice of CA. She was the sister of George Dempsey of Franklin and Edgar Dempsey of Hanson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the First Congregational Church, 76 Pierce St., Stoughton on Friday, September 25 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at VA National Cemetery, Bourne. Donations in Velma’s name may be made to the First Congregational Church Memorial Fund, 76 Pierce St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
