Obituary

Dartmouth - William B. Hallett, 88, of N. Dartmouth died at home August 18, 2003. He was the husband of Dorothy E. (Blacow) Hallett. They were married for 58 years.

He was born in New Bedford son of the late Francis and Susan P. (Spooner)Hallett and resided in Dartmouth for the past 53 years. He was employed for 40 yearsas a purchasing agent by Babbitt Steam Specialty Co., New Bedford until hisretirement.

Mr. Hallett was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He was a charter member in1963 of what was then the Dartmouth Baptist Church where he was the organist for 17years and a charter member of a new Dartmouth Baptist Church formed in 1996 wherehe was the organist. He was a member of the George H. Taber Lodge AF & AM,Fairhaven; Quittacas Lodge AF & AM, New Bedford; Aleppo Temple ShrineA.A.O.N.M.S., Boston; and The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of FreemasonryValley of Southeastern Massachusetts.

In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons: William B. Hallett, Jr. and hiswife Hope E. of Dartmouth and James R. Hallett and his wife Susan J. of Acushnet; abrother: Roy A. Hallett of Paradise, CA; 5 granddaughters; 2 great-granddaughters;and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation 1 hour prior to funeral service Thursday 9-10 A.M.

Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Dartmouth Baptist ChurchBuilding Fund, c/o Larry Swartz, 282 Loftus Street, New Bedford, MA 02746.

Interment in Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet.
