Obituary

Mr. Ambrose Lovejoy, age 78, of Wilmington formerly of Woburn, passed away September 20th at the Wilmington Health Center following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Kathryn L. (Ryan). Born in Nitro, West Virginia he was the son of the late Virgil and Alma (Boggess) Lovejoy.

Mr. Lovejoy settled in Woburn, MA shortly after he was honorably discharged from the United States Navy following his service during the Korean War. He was a Woburn resident for nearly thirty years and then moved to Wilmington where he has resided for over twenty-five years. Mr. Lovejoy was a retired carpenter and general contractor. He was the former owner and operator of the R.B. & L Construction Company and also worked along side his son in their construction company, Lovejoy Enterprises. Mr. Lovejoy was raised in Nitro, West Virginia where he was a member of the Nitro Church of God. He was also a life member of the Wilmington Friendship Lodge of Masons. Mostly devoted to his loving family, he was truly a bicycling enthusiast and over the years he enjoyed riding his bike up and down the east coast. He also enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida with his sisters.

In addition to his late wife, Mr. Lovejoy is predeceased by his brother, the late Robert Lovejoy.
He is survived by his devoted children, Keith Lovejoy of Woburn, Michael Lovejoy and his wife Antoinette of Omaha, NE, stepchildren; Donna Keefe of Tewksbury, Marjorie Malone and her husband John of Wilmington, Stephen Keefe and his wife Vickie of Duxbury. He is also survived by eight loving grandchildren and one loving great granddaughter. He is further survived by his sisters, Wilma Davis, Willie Hintz and her husband Jesse, Frances Smithson, Janice Sterns, and his sister-in-law Patricia Lovejoy all of West Virginia.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo - Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Wednesday, September 23rd, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
