Daisy E. (Antone) Gilliam, 89, of New Bedford died Monday September 21, 2009 at Bedford Village Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Clifford O'Neil Gilliam.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Marjorie (Antone) Conward, she lived in New Bedford all of her life. She was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.
Mrs. Gilliam was formerly employed as an assembler at U.S. Ringbinder for 19 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Gilliam was a member of the New Bedford Vocational High School Alumni Association and a former member of the Susan Sullivou Temple. She had served on the Board of Directors for the New Bedford Home for the Aged.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Celeste Fortes, who passed away on August 11, 2009, and the sister of the late Arthur Antone.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 12 Noon at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 11 AM - 12 Noon, prior to the service. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery.
