Zelda S. (Savenor) Baskies 0f Chelsea passed away on Sept 18, 2009. She was 85 years old. Born in Lithuania she was a resident of Chelsea for most of her life. She was educated in the Chelsea Schools and graduated from Chelsea High School.
Zelda graduated from the former Burdett College in Boston. Zelda was a member of Temple Emmanuel in Chelsea. She was a member of the Sisterhood at Temple Emmanuel and a life member of Hadassah. Zelda was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was the beloved wife of the late Max Baskies. Devoted mother of Dr. Robert Baskies and his wife Jage and Dr. Arnold Baskies and his wife Susan. Zelda was the dear sister of the late Yossi and Jack Savenor. Loving grandmother of Meredith, Michael and his wife Risa, Douglas and his wife Miriam, and Pamela. She was also the loving great grandmother of Joshua, Seth, Samuel, and Molly.
A Chapel Service will be held at Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Sq., Chelsea on Tuesday September 22 at 11:00 AM. Memorial Week will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to Temple Emmanuel, 60 Tudor St., Chelsea, MA 02150.
