Blum, Harris of Hull, Manager of Stella Cafe in Boston died unexpectedly at his home in Hull. He was 65. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mr. Blum had a varied career. As an executive headhunter in Manhattan, his clients included some of the country's foremost financial groups and high tech software companies. A lifelong Texas Hold'em player who played in casinos around the world, he later ran an underground poker game in Manhattan known as rounders. In 2007, Mr. Blum moved to Boston to work alongside his daughter Candice and her husband Evan Deluty, at Stella, their South End restaurant. Mr. Blum became a much loved presence on the Boston restaurant scene, easily recognizable by his soul patch beard, tatoos and Harley-Davidson. His laid back mannner, quick wit and winning smile won him friends throughout the local hospitality industry. "Harry could talk to anyone and did"., Evan Deluty said. "his flair for life was unmistakable. People just loved that." Mr. Blum is survived by two daughters, Courtney Stevens and Candice Deluty, and three grandchildren, Luke Stevens and Stella and Max Deluty. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday Sept. 24 at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) JAMAICA PLAIN at 2 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
