Obituary

Nancy Lynne (Donovan) Pournaras, age 38, devoted mother, beloved wife, loving daughter, sister and cherished friend, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday. Sept. 18, 2009 at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston surrounded by her loving family. For over seven years, she was the beloved wife of Antonios Pournaras.

Nancy was born in Melrose on May 1, 1971, the beloved daughter of Joseph Donovan of Hawaii and Lynne Mecka of Sandown, NH. She resided in Pelham, NH for the past five years and was a member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Dracut.

Earlier in her life, Nancy attended Castle Junior College and started her career in secretarial and accounting. She then went on to become a dedicated mother to her three beautiful children.

Besides her beloved husband Antonios, she is survived by her parents, Joseph Donovan and his wife, Terry of Hawaii, and Lynne Mecka and her husband, Alan of Sandown, NH; her three loving children, Christina, Nicholas and Alexandria; a dear niece, Christa Pournaras; her brother, Sgt. Timothy Donovan of Sandown, NH; her grandmother, Helen Donovan of Hawaii; her mother-in-law, Christina Pournaras of Lowell; two sisters-in-law, Helen Pournaras of Lowell and Kathy Chiola and her husband David of Dracut; also several aunts, uncles cousins and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Christopher Donovan and daughter-in-law of the late Nicholas Pournaras who passed away on July 14.


Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket Street, Lowell on Monday, Sept. 21 from 4 to 8pm. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Dracut. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's memory to the Lance Armstrong foundation online at www.Doodoobug.com or by mail to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Marylin Plank at 98 Sargent Rd.
