Phyllis C. (Bruno) Gautreau, a 23 year resident of Wakefield and former 35 year resident of Malden, died on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following an extended illness. She was 85 years old.
Phyllis was born in Boston on October 3, 1923. She grew up in East Boston where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from East Boston High School in 1940. Phyllis was a homemaker most of her adult life, dedicating herself to her husband and six children. Phyllis enjoyed music and dancing, playing whist and most of all journeying to Foxwoods as much as she could.
Phyllis is the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Gautreau. She is the devoted mother of Rita Gautreau and her partner Kathy Ahern of Salisbury, Carol Gage of Marshfield and her partner Richard Donovan, Theresa Gautreau of Craig, Colorado, and her partner Steve Penfold, Major Joseph R. Gautreau U.S.M.C. Ret. and his wife Jean of Poway, California, Louise Bellucci and her husband Ken of North Reading and Robert L. Gautreau Jr. of Wakefield. She is the loving grandmother of Linda, Joseph, William, Matthew, Jenna, Michelle and her 7 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Arthur Bruno of Dedham.
Phyllis's Funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at 9:45 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefield/Melrose line, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Theresa's Church, 63 Winter Street, North Reading, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Monday, September 21, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, September 22, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
