Obituary

Libero J. "Lee" Ladetto, 89, of New Bedford died Sunday September 13, 2009 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a brief illness.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Emiliano and Magdalena (Giolito) Ladetto, he lived in New Bedford all his life.

Mr. Ladetto was formerly employed as a carpenter for Olson and Appleby, Inc., and later owned and operated Ladetto Construction Company.

Mr. Ladetto was very active in the Whaling City Youth Baseball League, where a field was named in his honor. He was also a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces.

Survivors include three children, Margaret Borden, James Ladetto, and John Ladetto; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was the brother of the late Emilia Panagakos.
