Adeline (Christopher) DelGaizo, 93, of Windham, NH, died on Tuesday, September 8th at the Ridgeway Center in Bedford, NH.
Adeline was born in Revere, the daughter of John and Lena Christopher, and she was the last survivor of seven Christopher children. She was valedictorian of the Class of 1933 at Revere High School and never lamented a lost opportunity for higher education occasioned by the great depression.
Adeline was the wife of the late Frank E. DelGaizo of Revere, MA. Following Frank's untimely passing in 1968, she became manager of the Gloria Food Store on Broadway in Revere, where she continued to operate the family business for several years thereafter.
Known as Dolly to friends and family, she continued to open and enjoy the summer cottage in Nahant long after the kids were grown and gone. Nahant was an oasis in her life and the source of boundless memories for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter – Christina and the late Daniel Quinlan of Windham, NH, and her 3 sons Theodore and Sue DelGaizo of Downingtown, PA, James and Sandra DelGaizo of Plantation, FL, and John and Janis DelGaizo of Lynnfield, MA; along with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Church in Londonderry, NH at 12:30PM on Sat. Sept. 19th. Private Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett, MA.
