Alexander Dolman, age 87 of Salem, NH, died on Friday, September 11, 2009 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, NH. Born in Lawrence, MA, on April 5, 1922, he was a son of the late Gregory and Anna (Bubela) Dolomanuk.
Alex was a graduate of Lawrence High School and obtained a BS in Chemistry from Northeastern University. Alex was a resident of Londonderry, NH for 45 years. He retired after working 32 years as a research industrial chemist at several organizations, including Lowell Technological Institute and American Velcro. Alex was a Boy Scout leader for many years and also taught Sunday school. He was an avid reader and had built an extensive and eclectic personal library. Most recently Alex resided at Greystone Farm assisted living in Salem. He was a member of Londonderry United Methodist Church, Londonderry American legion, Post 27, Lawrence Masonic Lodge and was a past trustee of the Londonderry Leach library. Alex served in the Merchant Marine during WW II and was honored by France for his participation at Normandy on D-Day.
Surviving include his wife, Esther, daughter Cynthia, son-in-law Andrew and his sister Anna.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 14, 2009 at Greystone Farm at Salem, 242 Main St., Salem, NH. Following cremation burial will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover, MA at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the N.H. Humane Society, Meredith Center Road, P.O. Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247 or to the Animal Rescue League, Rt 101, Bedford, NH 03110. Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is in charge of the arrangements.
